SAT is a standardized test administered by the College Board and is required to be taken by students seeking admission to undergraduate schools. The full form of SAT is the Scholastic Assessment Test, which was earlier known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test. The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions.

SAT exam has been developed to evaluate the written, verbal and mathematical skills of the candidates. Applicants aspire to pursue undergraduate courses, particularly in the US and Canada, are required to take the SAT exam. The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student’s readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.

The SAT exam comprises of three main sections — Math, Evidence-Based Reading, and Writing. Also, there is an optional 50-minute essay. The total testing time after including the essay comes to 3 hours and 50 minutes.

Total: 154 Questions (155 with essay)
Duration: 3Hrs with 50mins of extra time allotted for Essay (optional)
